The most destacated fiesta in Torrelles de Foix are, by one side the Fiesta Mayor, in honor to the Patron saint Sant Genis, and by the other side the Handcraft Fair – Feria Artesana –.

The Fiesta Mayor is celebrated on the August 25th, and during the before or after three or four days has hold diverse festive acts and traditional culture and popular manifestations directed to all the citizens, the ones are also add the population of second residence, and neighbors from the next villages.

On the forth weekend from the October month, and as tradition recovered on the year 1.990, it’s celebrated the traditional Handmade Fair – Feria Artesana –. This event that has its starting on the year 1.892, then was the most popular fiesta even than the Fiesta Mayor, it was a commercial, agricultural and livestock expression, a big annual market to could get known the local products or exchanges with other foreign people, with this deal between man to man where the shaking of the hands was the document that makes formal the given word, a ferial commerce that the village was making itself slowly.

During the years of the postwar period it was declining till total disappearing; only some cultural entity will keep alive the memory organizing punctual acts.

On the year 1.990, the City Council would like to organize this old tradition, adapting to the current times and organizing in parallel festive and cultural acts.

This initiative had a very good reception by everyone, and until now, every edition of the Handmade Fair – Feria Artesana – has been getting more relevance beyond our municipality; in the last years it has been took back to another style more handmade inside the commercial and industrial world, also it’s been organized contests (the most important one is the elaboration of handmade bread), diverse exhibitions and festive acts that makes this close event been talked about in all the region and outside its frontiers, makes that the Handmade Fair – Feria Artesana – to be the reason of the visit to our village.
